I share a love of « Vanitas » with a beloved cousin of mine.

The last time I saw him before he was brutally murdered, I showed him this painting and he congratulated me on the acquisition. When he died, I had to take it out of my sight.

Still it reminds me of the transience of life and the certainty of death…
